Wrestling Myself, 2017

Looking at how mental illness has been a constant battle against myself, ‘Wresling Myself’ is a 3D sculpture where I look at how masculine violence can be used as a metaphor for how depression, suicidal thoughts and anxiety is a battle of the mind.

Wrestling, dating back to Ancient Greece and further, can be seen as both theatrical and real, and is often seen throughout history where good fights evil - or where someone of great strenght battles a somewhat unsignificant opponent.

As twisted and disconnected from reality mental illness can be, I’m physically fighting against myself in a constant stopped motion.
